if the clutch is grabbing but slipping it is worn clutch plates and springs and can be repaired with a clutch rebuild kit.Įither way you end up taking off the clutch cover. the clutch is under the right side cover near your right foot. if the clutch does not engage at all when you release the clutch lever then that could be a failure of the clutch basket or the springs that push the plates together. The clutch going out is a separate issue. not cheap but almost always the better way to go if you do not have carb experience. its easier to pay a shop to clean and sync them. a carb clean is not something for a novice. If the bike was sitting and not stored (fuel drained and cylinders fogged) there is probably sludge in the carbs. The Suzuki VS800 Intruder was a four-stroke, liquid cooled, 45 degree V-twin, SOHC, 8-valves, TSCC Cruiser motorcycle produced by Suzuki between 19. you most likely need a carb clean and sync. if you keep running it like that you will likely blow a hole through the piston or the head gasket. Ive replaced the alternator and signal generator on my 1998 Suzuki Intruder VL 1500 and since it back fires like crazy and most of the time will not start. The Suzuki VL1500 Intruder is long, low and wide, very similar to Kawasakis Vulcan 1500 in terms of power, overall feel and ride quality. if it was running rich to much fuel the bike would sputter and backfire and foul plugs. The thing that will make your pipes turn red while running (usually under load) is your carbs being dirty and the bike is running way to lean.
